Book Review: "Incredible..." That's how Chapter 1 starts, and that's how the book ends! "What Savage Beast" by Peter David is a "sequel" to his very successfully, "Future Imperfect" graphic novel by Marvel. It is also a platform in which Mr. David continues and explores some plot lines that he has worked on over the years as the author of the monthly Incredible Hulk comic. The novel has Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, and his loving wife, Betty, on the run from various forces that are always working against them. But this time, a possible cure for the Hulk may put an end to the running. The main antagonist is quite possibly the deadliest villain the Hulk has every gone up against... himself! Called the Maestro, this dark, twisted, future version of the Hulk has come back in time to steal something precious from his younger self, something that in the future, he has lost. Between the evil Maestro, the U.S. Army with some familiar faces, his psychiatrist Dr. Leonard Samson, forever sidekick Rick Jones and others, it's a family affair with the Hulk caught right in the middle.

Who should read this book? ANY Hulk fan! If you have been reading the Hulk at all during the past 10 years, this book is for you. This format give Mr. David the room to expand on the characters, as well as previous plot lines and events that have happened in the comics. Greater detail is given to the life of the Hulk and his surroundings. That and the fact that the book is filled with "puns" and "inside" jokes that will have any true fan falling all over themselves. This is THE Hulk novel!

What was Incredible: THIS book. Period - End of sentence.

What was not Incredible: Go ahead and try to find something!

Gamma Bomb Rating (Out of 5 bombs): Open the hatch and drop them all! 5 outta 5!
